 Betty Broadbent

Broadbent fue una de las primeras mujeres en tatuarse el cuerpo entero alcanzando una carrera ilustre en el circo Ringling Bros. Barnum y Bailey donde ganó mucho dinero por sus tatuajes y con ellos recorrió el mundo.

Broadbent was one of the first women that got tatoos all over most of her body. She became a circus artists at Ringling Bros Circus, and earned a lot of money traveling the world.

. HE WAS A SKATER BOY

i've recently seen the documentary Dogtown and Z-boys  (gracias Juanma!) and i suddenly discovered yet another sport that has influenced the culture, fashion and ideals of many young people all over the world.

And it all started like everything does:

Passion

some kids' love for adventure and courage to push the limits a little harder.

and why not, their love for a little vandalism

they mixed all that with effort and they fought for what they wanted to become.

Influenced by the Surfing world, in the 70's they started something without precedent.

.they started a revolution.

"by doing something that everybody said was a waste of time, we ended up influencing kids all over the world"

.they went to the first competitions and found all these pretty acrobats doing handstands on their boards.

.they broke every rule.

.they rolled harder and more radical than anyone and did things no one had ever seen. 

REALLY REALLY RECOMMEND WATCHING IT! SO COOL

even if you don't care about skating it's worth seeing it just for the aesthetics and the soundtrack

Hace poco he visto el documental  Dogtown and Z-boys  (gracias Juanma) y he descubierto otro deporte más que ha influido en la cultura, la moda, y los ideales de miles de jóvenes. 

Los Z Boys  eran originarios de Santa Mónica, en California y son quienes en los años 70 crearon la subcultura punk/skate. 

Todo empezó como empieza todo: 

.Pasión.

Las ganas de unos cuantos chavales de un barrio difícil, de aventura, de hacer skate y de llevar los límites de todo lo conocido, un poco más allá. 

Mezclando todo esto con esfuerzo, y con las ganas de tener una identidad propia, lucharon por lo que querían ser. 

Influenciados por el mundo del surf, comenzaron una revolución sin precedentes. 

"Haciendo algo que todo el mundo decía que era una pérdida de tiempo, acabamos influyendo en chavales de todo el planeta"

Cuando llegaron a las primeras competiciones se encontraron a unos cuantos deportistas cursis que hacían el pino y otras acrobacias sobre la tabla. 

Ellos rompieron todas las reglas

Hacían lo que nadie había visto nunca y de la manera más radical que se podía imaginar. 

Recomiendo fervientemente que lo veáis. 

Merece la pena aunque sólo sea por la estética y la banda sonora.

it's as if time gave them a sense and an aim that they never had.

2. f. Tristeza melancólica originada por el recuerdo de una dicha perdida.

.Es raro cómo las cosas del pasado siempre parecen más felices, más bonitas y llenas de significado y propósito. 

.Es como si el tiempo las cargara de un sentido y un fin que no tenían en realidad.
